Job Aid: Floor & Decor
THE NEED
Floor & Decor was experiencing challenges with its corporate onboarding process and identified a gap in manager readiness. Leaders needed a clear, practical resource to guide managers through onboarding new employees at the corporate headquarters.
DELIVERABLE
A final, print‑ready onboarding booklet was produced, formatted for easy distribution and desk‑side use.
PROCESS
After consulting with corporate leadership, Carolyn recommended creating a job aid rather than a traditional training course—something printable, easy to reference, and usable in real time during the onboarding experience.
Through stakeholder interviews and collaborative discussions, I mapped the full onboarding workflow and distilled it into a streamlined, manager‑friendly format.
Carolyn designed a visually engaging booklet in Adobe InDesign that outlined each step of the onboarding process. Graphics and visual cues were incorporated to make the content intuitive and to support quick reference during live onboarding activities.
RESULTS
Post‑implementation interviews revealed that managers found the booklet highly practical and accessible. Many kept it at their desks as a go‑to reference, noting that it simplified the onboarding process and improved consistency across teams.
