Storyline Courses: Booz Allen Hamilton

THE NEED

In 2024, the U.S. Army identified a gap in foundational knowledge among Soldiers entering the field of electromagnetic warfare. The Army was looking for a solution that would get teams up to speed quickly when onboarding.

DELIVERABLE

Two, 30-minute, interactive Articulate Storyline courses were delivered to the U.S. Army.

PROCESS

Carolyn began by conducting interviews with Army leaders to understand the specific knowledge gaps, how these gaps affected Soldiers’ roles, and what content would be required to close them. She then developed a detailed course outline and a comprehensive storyboard in PowerPoint to introduce key electromagnetic warfare concepts.

The storyboard included programming notes, visual design elements, and a final assessment.

After stakeholders approved the outline and storyboard, she built the full course in Articulate Storyline, using custom icons to represent core electromagnetic warfare concepts.

RESULTS

Courses were well received by leadership and successfully promoted through the Army’s LMS.

Storyline Course: MUSC

THE NEED

In 2021, MUSC faculty were independently creating online training materials, resulting in inconsistent design quality. The university requested a standardized course to guide faculty in applying effective instructional design principles, and best practices when developing their own content.

DELIVERABLE

A 30-minute Articulate Storyline course was designed for faculty use across MUSC. The course integrated scenario-based questions to get faculty thinking about practical applications.

PROCESS

Carolyn collaborated with the head of the instructional design department to conduct an intake meeting and clarify project goals. She then researched the tools and platforms available to faculty for course design, drafted a course outline and assessment strategy, and created a detailed storyboard in PowerPoint. After receiving Storyboard approval, Carolyn developed the full course in Articulate Storyline, incorporating scenario‑based activities to enhance realism and engagement.

RESULTS

The instructional design department provided positive feedback on the course’s structure, clarity, and overall content quality. The course was distributed throughout the universities' LMS.

Other courses created using Articulate Storyline:

Floor & Decor: In 2023, Carolyn designed an immersive 360‑photo store walkthrough to support onboarding for new Sales Associates. She integrated interactive hotspots to highlight key features of retail box‑store environments and reinforce spatial awareness. The final product was produced in Articulate Storyline.

Booz Allen Hamilton: In 2024, Carolyn created a 360‑photo training experience for U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers, guiding them through the correct sequence and positioning required for the Individual Weapons Qualification exam. The course was developed using Articulate Storyline.

Chef Works: In 2025, Carolyn oversaw the design of two Microsoft Excel training courses featuring role‑specific, scenario‑based learning paths to strengthen practical skills and on‑the‑job application.
