THE NEED

In 2024, Booz Allen Hamilton partnered with DroneShield to support U.S. Army field trainers who needed clear, accurate, and instructionally sound materials to teach soldiers how to identify and disarm emerging drone threats. The technologies involved were complex, and trainers required structured guidance to confidently deliver content, facilitate discussion, and assess soldier readiness. This created a need for comprehensive training packages that translated technical concepts into digestible, mission‑ready instruction.

DELIVERABLE

A full suite of ILT materials was produced, including:

• PowerPoint decks enriched with videos, imagery, and infographics to simplify advanced drone‑disarming technologies.

• Presenter notes detailing what trainers should say, ask, and demonstrate during each segment.

• Knowledge assessments designed to validate understanding and certify U.S. Army soldiers on critical counter‑UAS procedures.

PROCESS

Working closely with DroneShield’s technical experts and Booz Allen’s internal stakeholders, Carolyn:

• Conducted content analysis to break down highly technical system capabilities into learner‑friendly explanations.

• Storyboarded instructional flow to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with Army training standards.

• Designed multimedia‑rich slides to reinforce key concepts and support different learning styles.

• Developed structured presenter notes to standardize delivery across field trainers.

• Built assessments mapped directly to learning objectives to ensure measurable competency.

RESULTS

The final training packages were praised by Army leadership for their clarity, professionalism, and instructional strength. The materials enabled field trainers to deliver consistent, high‑quality instruction and helped soldiers achieve certification in drone‑disarming technologies. The project’s success contributed to a Silver Award recognizing Carolyn’s excellence in instructional design and her impact on mission‑critical training.
