Project Spotlight

360 Course: Floor & Decor
THE NEED
Sales Associates at Floor & Decor were experiencing difficulty navigating departments and aisles in retail stores.
DELIVERABLE
Two, 30-minute, interactive Articulate Storyline courses were delivered to the U.S. Army.
PROCESS
Interviews with store Leadership revealed that onboarding would benefit from clear visual guidance and virtual, immersive experience, to explore employees to layout prior to launch. Carolyn began the project by meeting with store leadership to clearly map out the standard design of stores. Carolyn created a visual to communicate this design to learners. Next, she visited a store that represented Floor & Decor's gold standard, shot all aisles and work areas with a portable 360-camera, and took the footage back to headquarters. After editing the 360-content, Carolyn programmed the experience into a course using Articulate Storyline. She also programmed hot-spots so that learners could learn more about the products offered in particular locations.
RESULTS
A fully interactive Articulate Storyline course featuring 360° video, clickable hotspots, and guided virtual navigation was provided. Learners scored the training consistently with a 5/5 rating for user experience and design.

360 Course: Booz Allen Hamilton
THE NEED
In 2024, the U.S. Army National Guard determined that Soldiers were struggling to pass their individual weapons qualification exam on the first attempt. Field trainers sought an immersive solution that would give teams additional, realistic practice opportunities before taking the live assessment.
DELIVERABLE
As part of a larger VR package I created, I integrated one, 20-minute, Articulate Storyline course that incorporated 360-camera photos. This 360-camera course instructed Soldiers on the proper stances and firing sequence. The 360-course provided foundational knowledge for learners, prior to taking the 20-minute VR simulation. The final 360-Storyline course featured photos of Soldiers that allowed the learner to manipulate and move the images to see positions of Soldiers at all angles. This ensured learners could understand what correct stances looked like from different points of view.
PROCESS
To ensure accuracy and authenticity of the product, Carolyn read and reviewed relevant Army doctrine outlining the exam requirements. She also collaborated with Army Leadership to validate training protocols.
Carolyn then drafted an outline and storyboard, detailing all instructional and UX design elements for the 360-coiurse. The storyboard for the Articulate course was approved by leadership prior to development.

Carolyn collaborated with field-trainers to capture 360-content, and attended live-online meetings to provide insight and feedback on best practices to capture 360-camera content.

Working with an Articulate Storyline developer, I oversaw the development of the end-product and packaged the 360-course along with a VR component, for the U.S. Army National Guard.
RESULTS
The 360-course was well received by leadership, and successfully promoted through the Army’s LMS.
Carolyn received two awards from Booz Allen for this project, including the Silver Award and Passionate Service Award.
